Fully Funded: Help Families Rebuild After a Devastating Flood


In September 2020, torrential rainfall struck already-suffering regions of Burkina Faso. Violence from extremists, worsening poverty related to the pandemic, and illness outbreaks of COVID-19 and meningitis had plagued the country in the preceding months, leaving families at their breaking point. Then the heavy rains came and caused an estimated $9 billion in damage nationwide. Compassion-assisted families were not spared in this disaster, and sadly, one child lost her life and several others were seriously injured. Thousands of families lost their crops, livestock, homes and belongings. Compassion staff members immediately responded by providing these families with psychological support, as well as temporary shelters, household items, clothes and water.
